Environmental Gamma Dose Rate Monitoring and Radon Correlations: Evidence and Potential Applications

نویسندگان

چکیده

Gamma emitting radionuclides naturally present in the Earth’s crust and radon exhaled by soil atmosphere with its short-lived progeny are two of main contributors to environmental gamma dose rate that typically characterizes an outdoor measurement site. The work aims investigate variations dose-rate time series originated different natural phenomena, such as weather seismic events, which can modify concentration air. data analyzed here were acquired over a five-year period using Reuter–Stokes high-pressure ionization chamber placed ENEA Casaccia Research Center (Rome, Italy), from November 2013 December 2018. detector was set take single equivalent ambient H*(10) every 15 min, thereby collecting more than 184,000 values under consideration. detector’s sensitivity verified preparatory study performed means simultaneous flux on field. Variations induced meteorological events well potentially investigated implementing analysis techniques. In latter case, retrospective preliminary conducted, applying ARFIMA class models order test method’s potential. techniques, results potential applications presented discussed this article.

Gamma Dose Rate Measurement and Dose Rate Calculation for Sensitive Organs in the Vicinity of Hot Springs in Kerman Province

Introduction:  All of  the  people worldwide  are exposed  to  low levels  of  radiation. Cancer induction  and  genetic disorders are among the hazards of low level exposure. In some cases, radiation close to hot springs is  higher than normal areas due to a high concentration and the decay products of Ra-226. Given the use of hot  springs by the general public  because  of their therapeutic p...

Comparison of Indoor and Outdoor Dose Rates from Environmental Gamma Radiation in Kurdistan Province

Background & Aims: Studying about background radiation is important because human beings are continuously exposed to these radiations which leave energy in tissues and the transferred energy leads to undesirable biologic effects. The level of background radiation differs in indoor and outdoor places. Since, people spend more time indoors, in this research environmental gamma dose rate for indoo...

Radon concentration and gamma exposure in some Kosovo underground mines

Background: In this study are submitted the radon concentration measurement results of four underground mines: Stanterg, Artana, Hajvali and Badovc, which are owned by Trepça Enterprise, Kosovo. The mines have the same geological formation and from these mines are extracted ores rich with lead, zinc, silver, and gold. The radiation exposures caused by radon and radon daughters was determ...

Measurement of outdoor and indoor ambient gamma dose rate in Gorgan and Bandar-Torkman cities using gas and thermoluminescent dosimeters

Background and Objective: Human external exposure to natural radiation sources is much more than artificial radiation sources. In this study, external annual effective doses were estimated in cities of Gorgan and Bandar-Torkman by determining ambient gamma dose rate in indoor and outdoor spaces. Materials and Methods: Using an ionization chamber detector, the outdoor and indoor ambient gamma d...

The Effects of Indoor Gamma Dose Rate, Permeability of Soil, Substructure, and Ventilation on Indoor Radon Concentration

The effect of indoor gamma dose rate, permeability of soil, substructure, and ventilation habits of inhabitants were studied using data of 84 low rise residential houses collected in an area of enhanced indoor radon concentration. The radon concentrations varied from 30 to more than 5000 Bqm. Cross-tabulation, comparisons of means and multiplicative models were used to test the significance of ...
